Reading her book was a joy! I loved every day in it.
When I started, I had a pen for taking notes in the margins and stickies to put on pages I wanted to come back to. What happened was I had pages of notes and so many stickies attached to so many pages that I realized the whole book is one I want to come back to.
Pirtle reminds us each day of the things we often forget. Things that bring us joy, even the bad things that eventually bring joy and happiness. I love the way the book is written, the words she chooses, and the thoughts that came to my mind while reading it.
Here are some of my favorite pages (days) with just a line for two from them to demonstrate the power in this little book. Each page has a complete thought, story, lesson, etc., but I am only giving you the highlights of just a few. In my opinion, the whole book is my favorite 🙂 :
Day 6 - Imagine a bird! Free to fly whenever it wants, and wherever it wants.
You are as free as that bird!
Because you are free to choose and think.
You are free to do, say, and hear.
(and she goes on)
Day 32 - The most powerful and stable place for you to BE and live in is your heart.
It's also where the most powerful and stable energy for you to live through is created - your love!
Day 67 - Imagine a Gray and Rainy Day:
For some, that day feels like a very unhappy day and for others, that day is filled with happiness. Same day. same happenings, yet very different experiences.
Day 242 - You can always be with yourself!
Make it a regular practice to spend time with yourself without any distractions
(She goes on to say that this time is a good time to ask yourself good questions. Like "how does my body feel?" How my mind doing? What are my feelings? What is going on in me?)
Each day Pirtle presents a thought and then asks you to run with it. She leads you with suggestions, but it is ultimately you who decides how to proceed that day. The thoughts she presents are worthy of the time it takes to read each day and to practice. If you follow her lead for even a few days, I dare you to say you are not in the least bit happier. You will feel better, even if only a little.
I challenge you to go for the whole 365 day experience and see where it leads you. The book is a step-by-step guide to being happy (or more happy, as the case may be). It certainly won't hurt to read it, it will not make you sad. 🙂

(Note of Disclosure: Normally I purchase, borrow from friends or libraries books that I review. This one was sent to me by Kelsey at Healthy Lifestyle PR/Book Publicity Services. All of my book reviews are honest and mine. If I like something, I will tell you; If I don't like something, I will tell you. Just so you know...🙂)
Do you struggle at times to find happiness in any given day? Do you feel overwhelmed by life? Do you remember those little things that make you happy, or do they get brushed aside in the dust? Give Pirtle's book a chance. It's an easy read and uplifting.
